Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday, launched a
contributory scheme for Hajj and Jerusalem pilgrimage for prospective
pilgrims in the state.
The governor explained that the scheme was part of his administration
policy to make everyone participate in the holy pilgrimage irrespective
of the financial status and class.
Ambode who also honoured the Managing Director of the Medview Airline
for partnering with the state government in the airlifting of the
pilgrims in the state, reiterated his commitment to make like easier for
residents in the state.
Speaking after the launch of the contributory scheme also known as,
“Pay Small Small Scheme”, Ambode, represented by the state Commissioner
for Home Affairs, Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, said with the scheme
petty traders and other low income earners would be able to fulfill
their religious obligations in a more convenient way.
Ambode, who described the scheme as a strategy to create an enabling
environment for every resident to feel the impact of the government,
more approaches underway to make life better for the citizen
irrespective of their tribe, religion and other differences.
