Festival Mall Inaugurated by Ambode

Festival Mall built at Amuwo Odofin in Lagos has been officially inaugurated by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. The mall was built by First Festival Mall Limited, a JV company between UPDC Plc., and Africa Capital Alliance and UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust.

The mall, which construction works began in May 2013 and concluded in November this year, is built on 3.2 hectares of prime land. Festival Mall was conceived by UPDC Plc., as part of a commercial/entertainment node in Amuwo Odofin LGA. Other facilities in the hub include Golden Tulip Hotel & Conference Centre which currently hosts over 100 large scale conferences annually and The Residences, a block comprising of 195 Apartments.
Festival Mall has gross buildable area of 12,722sqm; 10,071m2 of Leasable space, comprising of: 4,508sqm of retail line shops; 1,035 of F&B shops; Cinema of 5 viewing screens; 3,320sqm of Anchor space; and ample car park.
Festival Mall and the other complimentary facilities nearby will offer a complete and sustainable environment for work, hospitality, recreation and retail experience.
The mall will also provide delightful shopping experiences to residents of Festac Town, Mile 2, Crystal Estate, Anchorage Estate, Okota, Navy Town etc. and create a destination point for residents of Lagos State. The varied tenant mix ensures that there is something for everyone at the mall with offerings ranging from entertainment & leisure to clothing, groceries etc.

The Managing Director of UPDC Plc., Mr. Hakeem Ogunniran said, “Festival Mall project was conceptualized in 2011, generally due to absence of modern formal retail channels in Festac and its environ. The mall was born out of UPDC‘s  desire to create a destination point for Lagos State residents around Festac, Amuwo-Odofin, Mile 2, Ojo, Alaba, Orile and Okota to have an experience of a formal shopping mall.”
Festival Mall, he said has 500 car parking bays+; sewage treatment plant; water treatment plant; Fire Alarm & Fire Fighting System; 24/7 CCTV Surveillance System; Armed Police Patrol; and Independent Power Plant.
The mall comprises of 47 retails shops, including two anchor tenants -Shoprite and Silverbird Cinemas- and 45 other retailers offering diverse products and services ranging from the Food Court to Line Shops consisting of Fashion, Beauty Products, Telecommunication Banks, Pharmaceuticals, Furniture, among others.
