Mayor Shot Dead A Day After Assuming Office

Gisela Mota Ocampo was just recent sworn hours as the mayor of a municipality in Mexico before she was reportedly killed by armed men inside her home.
The incident which took place on Saturday (2 January) in Temixco south of Mexico left the whole city in deep pain. 

The newly elected mayor was murdered in the doorway of her family home by her attackers in the early hours of day.

According to Morelos state security commissioner Alberto Capella,

“Police pursued and exchanged gunfire with the armed men, killing two of them, he said. Two adults and a juvenile were arrested and will be prosecuted” 

The congresswoman was killed in her early 30s, she reported died with the high hope of cleaning the Morelos state of problems associated with drugs and organised crime which was already on a high rise in the state.
