“An adequate security plan that involves army patrols and checkpoints will beef up security during the match,” Alexandria security Chief Nader Genedy was quoted by Youm7.
On Saturday, Tharwat Sweilam, executive director of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said that up to 15,000 fans will be allowed to attend the match, adding that the association is currently in contact with the Interior Ministry to increase the number to 20,000, according to Youm7.
The EFA and the Interior Ministry decided to hold football games behind closed doors shortly after the last year’s Air Defense stadium disaster in February 2015, in which more than 20 fans were killed in a stampede after being teargassed by police while entering the stadium.
However, the EFA stated in December 2015 it was developing a new system for the return of spectators to Premier League matches.
More than 40,000 Nigerian supports packed into Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna Friday to watch the first leg which ended with 1-1- draw.
The Egyptian team leads Group G with seven points, followed by Nigeria with five points.
